Get back on The Horse
LIQUID LIQUID is offline 05-08-2011, 09:28 AM

They say if you fall off a Horse the first thing you should do is climb straight back on. Now that we have all had our individual sulks and moans perhaps the best thing we can all do to re-build bridges is to have another comp - even if its just for fun.

I was reading another thread that was talking about the demise of the record company and how for some artists getting their music onto Films or TV may promted me to think we should have a `Soundtrack` comp.

How say you all?????

Why not both? The soundtrack comp is a great idea. Don't recall it ever being done before (?). But a "who can write the deliberately crappiest pop song" comp could be hilarious!

Good idea

Untill the next sponsored comp is set up we could run something where the winner gets a promo slide (the first one) on the homepage and at the top of the forum for a couple of weeks?

Soundtrack or spoof pop song are the ideas so far. Any other suggestions or ideas? How about a soundtrack for a game? It could help the winner to show gaming companies that they won a soundtrack comp (linking to homepage with their track promo)? Throw up a few more ideas and I'll make a poll out of them.

A

PS I haven't deleted that other thread btw, just moved it to a new forum. Having some issues setting access but when its ready you'll see it.

I think the "crappiest" pop song is a brilliant idea and could be a lot of FUN. We could all have a laugh at each others "poor" efforts , leave comments (praise or otherwise) - have a special top 20 of the worst songs etc -could heighten the sense of community on the site. After all im pretty sure most artists on mp3u have written and recorded songs that they wouldnt dream of sharing with others but like to play/listen to for themselves as a sort of a guilty pleasure. This is the chance to get those songs out there.

Would be great

I think the gaming soundtrack is a great idea, to get into game music industry is hard but well worth it. Also crappiest pop track could be ok but then again there will be people who will take it seriously and crack up if you take the piss out of it but that could be funny too!

yeh I would be up for this - I suppose the kind of ambient melancholic stuff I do could back some of the TPS genre games out there...some of the better ones anyway

You'd have to be very specific with the genre of the game to write music for, I can't quite see Horror Ambient going down well on the menu of a car racing game a game developer would know exactly what they wanted for a given point in the game.
