REASON 4: Sidechaining
LIQUID LIQUID is offline 19-07-2010, 14:10 PM

Would anyone like to share an optimum setup in R4 for sidechaining. I know howo to route everything I just dont get any strong results. I wondered if there are optimum Compression settings or specific sounds that react more to the effect than others?

I gave you this link yonks and yonks ago! lol

The sidechaining in Reason seems complex to me. Sure they will simplify it in future versions though.

The key to getting a good sidechain going is the relationship between the compressors threshold and release - it needs to pump in time with the beat.

Just watch the video in the link I posted (which works I've checked the link twice, check your browser) It's a five minute video, much easier to follow than a long winded written tutorial, nothing in it seems particularly complicated, you just move a few wires and turn two dials lol

No doubt you are right, but when a person is used to Live or Logic, it just seems way more potchy.

Phil you could just rewire Reason into Logic and do your sidechaining there because the in built compressor in reason is poor quality anyway, would avoid if I had a choice (which I do and I do.)

I just don't like any of the signal processing in reason KTA, apart from the absolutely marvellous advanced reverb that is!! I have been using it for 2 years so you might say I have a fairly informed opinion...
