MIDI Keyboard
ANDYF ANDYF is offline 09-05-2011, 20:21 PM

Hi Guys

I need some advice on what would be the best purchase in the form of a Midi Keyboard. You know the type of music I try to create and am getting a bit exhausted in laying down individual chords and notes manually on my FL piano roll. I am not saying money is no object but I don't want any rubbish.

Any suggestions would be greatly received. I think I want at least 45 keys

Thanks in advance

Andy

Yeah, don't be put off by it's plain appearance (lack of buttons,etc)...it's programmable via the keys if you need it.They also do an 88es version...but they had none in stock when I bought mine.,so I settled for the 61.

But mine don't have an inbuilt piano

I use M-Audio Keyrig 49, 49 keys, usb, no buttons just mod/pitch wheels/octave/edit mode/master fader, it's like $99.99, don't really need anything other than that thanks to plug ins and I don't even use those buttons as it is lol, don't know what kind of flashy features your looking for, I believe it's fully mappable too.

they all pretty much do the same thing Andy...you can't really go wrong with any of them...apart from build quality and key weight.

I personally had issues with M-Audio equipment...I've also had some half decent stuff in that brand.

can't go wrong with edirol either...never had any issues with them so far

I own 3 edirol midi keyboards

Chip in with my humble opinion. I personally didnt go for a midi controller in the end as I didnt want to have to boot up the PC everytime I wanted to just sit down and knock out a few chords and work up an idea. But if you are not intending to ever play live and its simply an input device then I too have an M-Audio keyboard and find it fine to work with. Mine is very small so no use whatsoever for recording live performances but if that aint a problem then why pay for octaves you will never need as you can change the range of the keyboard on the m-audios with a button press.
