Messing around with new gear :)
Aon 24-10-2016, 01:40 AM

Should have put this in here earlier really, but didn't think about it.

Three different mixes, take a listen and let me know your thoughts, etc.

Test track

Test track 2

Test track 3

Be warned - amateur efforts on a steep learning curve ahead :P Only started working with the new gear and set up Saturday night

So 24 views and no one has anything to offer? Ah well, never mind.

Hi Aon,
Don't know what you changed in each, apart from taking the hats down in V2 and V3? They all seem pretty much the same to my ears...prefer the snares and toms in V1, I think, but it is like trying to split hairs to tell the difference to these ears. Guess the frequencies necessary to pick out the differences are lost to my aging ears However, as I let your page continue to stream, I really like the new drums you are using compared to your previous tracks. That is one thing that will leap out as you move forward.
Hope all is well with you and your family.
New gear (rigs/instruments) always brings new-found energy for the creative process. Good for you.

All the best,
Terry

The use of the forum is pretty much redundant, So quoting 24 views means nothing really. No one uses the forum for pimping or the very few who do are basically wasting their own time. All threads outside of Rant, Fight club and General chat generally receive zero replies.

test track love the sound of the toms. Hate the hats.
test track 2 better hats but still sound like razor blades, to sharp.
test track 3 again hats are very sharp. drums sound hallow.
test track 4 for me best one but I think in the blast sections you should bring the hats down 20%. or half time them so its not a constant ting.

Think you may be right there funkyboi. Thanks for your thoughts. Will bring the hats down some more. I gather you felt the guitars and bass were ok?

First track has the best kick, I think the snare needs to be louder in them all but with a touch of reverb. if you go with kick number one then you can balance the bass against that to get more depth to your bottom end.

Hats are always a bastard, might be worth trying a different set of hats or tuning them down a little.

Thanks ditheramb. Those hats seem to be a real problem, but I will figure it. The kick in 1 is definitely better.
