I got one too...
Great song you have here. I'm a music publisher with BMI. I'm involved with a few business associates launching a new website. Which is going to be good for bands getting massive exposure, selling CDs, TShirts and getting radio and internet airplay so that you will get royalties from your songs plus have your gigs live so that you can sell tickets. You keep almost everything that you make. To opt-in and to be notify once this site becomes live which should be in about a month before christmas. We will also have also classified searches for bands looking for musicians within your local area. Our new site is called http://promotingthebands.com Also if your songs are not published then you need will need to get them published. In which we would published your songs that way they are protected and from that you will receive royaties from BMI. If your not an affiliate writer with BMI here is thte link https://applications.bmi.com/affiliation/joinen.aspx It's free to join. For more doesn't hestiate to give me a call. Hi....BMI is a PRO not a publishing company. Publishing "is not" a copyright!!
The only way to get royalties is through a PRO (Ascap, BMI,Sesac, etc.), and just because a song is published, it doesn't mean its been cut by an artist, it just means a publisher liked it enough to shop it to artists, usually for the publishing rights. Also this persons grammer is pretty sad. Big Red Light: They want money!! Another Red Flag: BMI charges a fee to join. Personally I think its BS! Peace, Ron

B.M.I. is NOT a publishing company of any kind! Although it is possible the writer meant he was a publisher who was ASSOCIATED with/or a MEMBER of B.M.I.They do have an associate membership that writers can join and submit/register their songs, and this feature is FREE. This ensures that, in the event the song is published, recorded by an artist and realeased either for sale or radio broadcast
ect, the artist will be paid by B.M.I. or whatever PRO,(Performing Rights Orginization). As hokey as it sounds I agree with the comment on the senders' grammer. No proffessional is going to send a letter like that one. I hope no one is spell checking mine. Nevertheless, this guy is offering up everything: t-shirts, CD's, live gigs, royalties. Steer way clear of this guy. If he's legitimate he needs to be just a tad bit clearer on who he is and what he can do. Let him screw somebody else. Later, ToNy
