Anyone heard of Hamish from EMM Artists
James Oakwood James Oakwood is online now 22-04-2011, 18:22 PM

I got an email from this dude (Hamish) expalining that they target companies that might need music to enhance their products (whether it's adverts, in-store piped music or whatever).

EMM collect play-money from their clients and pass-on 25% to the artist.

Sounds cool and simple enough but there seems to be a somewhat tenuous link between this guy (Hamish from EMM artists) and the company he purports to represent (The syllabus agency). Syllabus appear to be the important folk in this and I've contacted them about this Hamish guy.

Anyway, Hamish said he's contacted others on mp3unsigned so I'm posting this for any feedback from anyone he might have contacted or indeed any feedback from anyone including the dead or blind (except that hank miller of course)

Andy

I think he's harmless Tom and he could be useful but he's more likely to be a timewaster. I've not heard back from Syllabus yet but will keep ya posted as you are the most interested (not like that scumbag miller from up t'north).

BTW, when did he contact you and has he taken any music off yer hands?

I think there realistically is only one song of mine that is suitable and I swear and make farting noises in it so I'm thinking he's taking the scattergun approach which I don't think is good for anyone.

Andy

Well, I was approached about 2 or 3 weeks ago over my personal homepage e-mail adress.
he sent me some exclusive music agreement for in-store-use (from EMM, same business adress as Syllabus) and "Information on submitting music for in-store music channel" (from Syllabus).
As there are no fees of any kind involved and the agreement only covers in-store-use and leaves all other rights unattached, it seems ok to me.

I agree the mysterious Hamish probably has not listened to any music of the people he contacts so actually I don't really expect anything. The Syllabus website seems absolutely legit to me, and they do mention the EMM project.

Hah... all you scoffers, you basterds of the french kind... I made a total of £4.58 last month from royalties of music played in Latvia in a 100-chain store. Bought half a guiness and a cheese and onion cob down the pub tonight with my new-found earnings.
