My friend and fellow musician here almost missed The new song from DDL and I had to let him know it existed. My last 3 pieces went virtually unnoticed because a bunch of free-bees listed at least 10 songs for free and snuffed out everyone on the home page list before they even got heard never the less, noticed at all. Now a lot of others will not be aware as well. I hear Amadeus is revamping the home page so this won't be the case and new tunes will have a chance of communicating their existence. But now every Tom, Dick and Harry can post without cost. I'm not a fan of the 100 free tunes thing. This site has always been one of the more generous sites with a low cost for VIP status and should stick with maybe 5 free tunes for free. I don't want to come off as someone who doesn't care about the poor sucker who can't scrape together a few bucks (quid) to get heard but, now no one get's heard as it's way too crowded. If a person is serious about their music being heard, they will make an effort and work for it and not just be handed a free ticket. Nothing good comes without some blood sweat and tears. Please don't sensor my message here as so many of my messages are deleted because they don't smell perfect. -rl

Do away with the automatic linking of a new track into new mp3s in the forum. I doubt most of those that are posting multiple tracks will take the extra time to post all of them in the forum manually. You may also limit users to 1 track posting per day.

I really miss the "read all comments on your tracks" in the artists menu. The only way now to see if you've had new comms is to view your page and check the comms.

I don't envy you at all A. Tough job you have.
I agree with the previous speaker

Ouch! Point taken. LOL

Seriously though, of course, you are right and I also fully accept a lack of comments as a fairly good indicator that the song probably just isn't any good.

I also, like Liquid, recognise that, with a few exceptions, it is usually the same names who comment on my tracks.

I guess my gripe was that my song had disappeared off the radar in a matter of hours, so even those regular commenters would likely never be aware of it.

Perhaps I've been over-relying on the "Latest Tracks" list and the "New MP3s" threads. It never occurred to me to PM friends whenever I upload a new song. Is that standard practise, or was Tony joking?

Thanks, Darth, for the tip. It's a good idea but I think I'll pass this time and save that option for a rainy day. I've never seen anyone bump their own thread on MP3U, so I'm not really comfortable being the first to do so.

It's done regularly & not frowned upon at all. Especially now that tracks are being shuffled back by posters who won't be contributing comments.

Bump it like it's hot!

Me and Mr. Oakwood do it regularly. We have no shame! But sometimes I bump his and he bumps mine, a sort of symbiosis, if you will...

Thumbs up

I have occasionally logged into Soundcloud and liked the way comments and replies can be logged at certain points in the song. However, for me, MP3U beats it hands down as a community.

New artists are always welcome here, but the current system is a train wreck. I am just glad that we have been given the opportunity to have a good old moan about it. It is nice to know that our views count for something here!

Like sound cloud - you get an email when an artist you "follow" uploads a new track - could be quite useful

The think about multiple uploads - why don't you just have it so it says "fluid breaks have uploaded a/5 new track(s)" on the front page?....more news feedy thingy
