My friend and fellow musician here almost missed The new song from DDL and I had to let him know it existed. My last 3 pieces went virtually unnoticed because a bunch of free-bees listed at least 10 songs for free and snuffed out everyone on the home page list before they even got heard never the less, noticed at all. Now a lot of others will not be aware as well. I hear Amadeus is revamping the home page so this won't be the case and new tunes will have a chance of communicating their existence. But now every Tom, Dick and Harry can post without cost. I'm not a fan of the 100 free tunes thing. This site has always been one of the more generous sites with a low cost for VIP status and should stick with maybe 5 free tunes for free. I don't want to come off as someone who doesn't care about the poor sucker who can't scrape together a few bucks (quid) to get heard but, now no one get's heard as it's way too crowded. If a person is serious about their music being heard, they will make an effort and work for it and not just be handed a free ticket. Nothing good comes without some blood sweat and tears. Please don't sensor my message here as so many of my messages are deleted because they don't smell perfect. -rl

Well something went haywire on a couple of threads in Rant that I had posted. I don't recall when it was exactly or what the subject matter was but when I posted the threads they were indeed saved and the next day they were gone. I understand that anything that can happen probably will and that's that. I'm not upset anymore since you have explained it to me but I do remember emailing you on both occasions and never getting a reply and that ticked me a bit. Again, poopy happens.

Not sure about this. I think this would lead back to the old days of insincere comments again. You know the ones, 'Great. R8ed' on the track comments and then 'C's up' on the forum thread. Back a couple of years ago people used to do this all the time just to get others to listen to theirs, apparently listening to about 20 songs in 30 mins or so.
The whole song pimping system bores the shit out of me now and is the main reason I rarely leave comments on the forum these days, which is another reason why the latest uploads being only 10 tracks and constantly being over-run by multiple uploads pisses me off so much. I keep missing uploads by my fave artists. If it wasn't for the fact I check the front page every couple of hours or so on my Blackberry I wouldn't know when these people were uploading at all. Yes I know I should check out the new mp3s threads more often but to be honest I can't be arsed to more than once a week nowadays.

Looking at introducing a feature that will allow you to notify your 'Recommended By' list whenever you upload a new song. Combined with the planned fix for the Latest Tracks this should ensure that people who are interested in certain artists won't miss out on new uploads. Not sure if this update should go by email or PM to the forum though...? Would you guys like to get emails as soon as a track is uploaded or would you prefer to have a list with links to your Recommended list of their latest tracks in a monthly update? The monthly update would also include details of your number of page views, new comments, downloads and chart positions etc. plus a bit of site news or details on new competitions etc. How would that work?
My concern with having an email every time one of your recommended artists uploads a track is that you could end up getting a lot of emails and it's very easy to click the spam button, especially if you are using a mobile phone for email. Let me know what you think.

I don't think I'd have an interest in a monthly update - what's gone is gone. I'd be more interested in an email telling me I received a comment on a track or when someone uploaded who I had an interest in. Using the recommended artist list as it currently is (unless you changed it) wouldn't work for me as it only displays a random selection.

Amadeus perhaps you should host a poll on what people want as I think your very unlikely to please everyone. I for example would be happy with a weekly mail updating me on who has posted and I can then drop in and listen to those that attracted me. Of course the obvious limitation is I`ll likely look out for names I know and am certain of a good listen so new faces get overlooked. That said I get a reasonable amount of listens to my tracks but that wasnt always the case I had to get involved in the forum and build a reputation - But thats life isnt it?
