Don't watch a lot of TV,but never missed that one

I was reading a piece about The Walking Dead somewhere... forgot where now, so no link.
Apparently it's been allowed to run for two series', but there's a question mark over a third series, and a lot of people think that it won't happen. They have some kind of magic ratings threshold, and if the viewing figures fall below this number, the show is axed, regardless of how far along in the plot it might be. Television series' have to justify their existance, and guarantee the ratings will exceed this magic number before they are even considered. Apparently, the programme-makers had to fight their bollocks off to get a second series, and literally got the go-ahead by a hair's breadth. Sucks doesn't it? The easiest and most successful option for networks is cheaply-made 'entertainment' shows, reality TV, celebrity gossip formats and home-makeover stuff. Unfortunately, this kind of stuff appeals to the lowest common denominator, and lots of people watch it, because it's easier than having to think. Genuine, original drama, intelligent commentary and in-depth documentary is getting increasingly scarce to the point of nonexistance.

The joys of internet ready TV's/DVD Players/Netflix/Hulu Plus, LOL for $9.99 a month you get over 100,000 movies/TV Series, bout half or more of that's 24/7 streaming so you don't have to wait for DVD's, and Hulu's like 7 or $8.99, between those and archive sites online you don't need to pay for tv anymore, too expensive anyways, Watch Movies Online, free Movies Online, Watch Films online, Watch Films online for free has alot of series for streaming.

We should be thankful that the BBC and the unique way that it is funded can sidestep issues such as financial popularity being judge and jury to a shows future. Although that doesn't explain 'White Van Man' and the BBC's rapture over the very average Will Mellor. They cancel TittyBangBang and still promote that talentless twerp?

I can understand TV execs dropping crap programmes...it is a business after all,but maybe they should lower the threshold Too many channels today...all filled with mind-numbing ''reality'' shite for the unimaginative braindead sheep! As for the BBC,there should be an opt-out...they were even talking about an additional license fee to watch the iPlayer. Bloodsuckers!

Without the BBC my furry friend every channel today would be like Channel 5. The only upside to that is we all wouldn't watch so much telly and go out and do stuff. We wouldn't be so fat.

Actually it was Channel 5 that aired The Walking Dead...so good on 'em
Going back to the BBC,they're just as guilty of producing mindless crap as any other channel...the only difference being that my money helps fund it. Anyway,my Plasma's just an expensive alarm clock at the moment...too busy for tv...got some paint I have to watch dry
