Bad Films

I don't like ballet, but I thought I would rent Black Swan - cos it was about artists. God it sucked!

I have discovered that someone called Mark Hayman wrote the screenplay - he should do some research before writing such unadulterated garbage!

We are expected to believe that a young, healthy and attractive dancer has reasons enough to be chronically neurotic. She is shy, with no friends and a clingy mother - but nothing sinister I could think of to cause this neurosis. I find it hard to believe that in all the years of ballet school she wouldn't have made some close friends and been hit upon by guys - cos not all of them are gay - and anyhow, she would surely have some kind of social life , where she would be sure to lose her shyness-

Without giving too much away - she develops psychosis later in the film - really hard to understand why! Heyman knows nothing about mental illness at all - what a jerk.

I also recently watched 'Paris Lockdown' - OMG! You would have to be a serious psycho to watch this one all the way through - no attempt for the 20 minutes I could stand, to develop any character traits other than sociopathic violence - no reasons or passions - how do these writers get past the selection process? It was a French Film, but I have seen some good ones.

What are some bad films you have seen recently?

Can't say I agree entirely but they would've done well to hold off until Part 2's DVD release and made it a 2-Disc, I've watched part 2 so many times online it's ridiculous.

A Joy Division anorak writes:

Control really pissed me off, for the simple reason that the song featured in the band's seminal Electric Circus performance was 'Leaders of Men' according to the movie.

Obviously this is completely wrong, the song performed at that gig was of course 'At A Later Date'. The Electric Ciurcus version was the slightly earlier version of the track than the one featured on the Warsaw Demos with the bass coming in on the fourth, rather than second bar.

The version of 'Leaders of Men', as performed by the band in the movie was also wrong, as the live version performed during that period was closer to the 1978 German studio demo which simply repeats the second verse after the lead solo.

Bah... I dunno who researched the damned movie, but clearly it wasn't a Joy Division enthusiast.

....Be that as it may, 99.999999999% of all films made within the last decade are total, utter and absolute mindless moronic shit. Pure chewing gum for the brain. The directors, producors and studios obviously assume that their audiences consist exclusively of howling neanderthalistic American high school frat boys with the attention span of a goldfish with advanced Altzheimers.

Most Neuro-typicals would not squabble over such matters. What I liked about Joy Division was that they couldn't actually play and Curtis couldn't sing in the traditional muso sense of the term 'musician', but my lord in heaven, put those 4 guys on stage and they made such an unholy sound with their aggressive compositions, such a raw painful sound that was frankly unsettling, we will never see their like again. One of those bands that come and go, leave something magical and can never be equalled.

anyone would think there was NO decent films about LOL

I disagree, I suppose you need an open mind and be able to not take everything serious...plenty of good films. infact some real decent films over the years...again you need to be able to take a film for what it is not what you think it should be.

I watched "the fighter" other night and really enjoyed it...the fight scenes were poor and the ending was a bit Rocky...but the story to the film was really good and Christian Bale played his part to a T.

also watched west is west and really enjoyed that too.

can't wait for the "The Inbetweeners"

Obviously none of you saw Men Staring at Goats....total and unadulterated bollocks and we'd gone to cinema and paid to watch it???? The adverts were more entertaining and I am not kidding.

I agree with Social Network being a goodun....one of the best films I've seen for a while and very believable acting.
